Work Package 6: Transmission Blocking - New Targets

This Work Package aims to determine the expression profiles of mosquitoes and parasites during the early stages of their interaction during malaria transmission, and assess similarities and differences of these profiles in geographically distant areas. It will use A. gambiae and A. arabiensis mosquitoes representing local populations infected with sympatric P. falciparum field isolates. It will highlight and emphasize on conserved genome responses to identify ideal targets of mosquito and parasite for malaria transmission blocking.
